5-Kilometer Run Held at KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium to Mark Independence Day

LUCKNOW  — A 5-kilometer run was organized at KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium in Lucknow on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day. The event, held under the guidance of Regional Sports Officer Dr. Atul Sinha, was flagged off by Joint Director (Sports) V.P. Singh Yadav at 4:00 p.m.

A total of 195 athletes participated, including 132 boys and 63 girls, running a route that took them from the stadium through prominent city landmarks like Vidhan Bhawan Crossing and Hazratganj before returning to the stadium.

In the boys’ category, Suryapal secured first place with a time of 15:36.02, followed by Shiv Narayan Nishad (16:00.10) and Suraj Chauhan (17:49.26).

In the girls’ category, Ruchi Nagar won with a time of 22:00, with Arti and Mohini Yadav finishing second and third, respectively.

Following the race, a cultural program was held to honor freedom fighters. Additional Chief Secretary for Sports, Om Prakash Awasthi, along with other dignitaries, distributed prizes to the winners. The event was managed by Rakesh Yadav under the supervision of Dr. Atul Sinha, who thanked all participants and guests for their support.
